Happy 2012 to everyone!! My first post for the year:) Hope everyone had a wonderful New Year!! Hope you all had some wonderful family time during the holidays. I spent a great time with lots of family during Christmas. We had fun and it was good seeing everyone. I've been working on my new website and picking my favorite images from not just 2011 but 2010 and 2009 as well. My site has been in need of a serious update for a while. Not sure if any of you saw this image I posted in fb but I thought of it as soon as I saw the theme over at iheartfaces this week, "Family fun"!! This is a favorite family image I love from a family session in 2011. This little guy was hilarious, such a cutie and full of character, I loved photographing him. Wow, it's been way too long since I've posted in my blog. So sorry I've neglected my wonderful blog. Last year, I started a photo project and did not finish it. This year, I'm determined to start a photo project and finish it to the end. I chose, Let's do 52 hosted by Annie Manning of Paint the Moon Photography. Every week a new theme will be posted on her blog and our goal is a take a photo that fits the theme. I'm happy to get started but sad that my first post is not a happy one. This past week our sweet cat, age 17, lost her battle with kidney disease. We adopted her when she was 2 or three and she was a member of our family for 14 wonderful years. I still remember the first day we met her. We went to Petsmart to find a kitty to keep our first cat company. So in we walk during their adoption center event and look in all the cages. Well, our sweet kitty flipped onto her back when we opened her cage door and wanted us to rub her belly. Not many cats act like a dog that I know of. She had the sweetest, kindest personality. She always greeted us when we came home from wherever and she loved hanging out with us. She loved to jump up on the desk while I would be working, rubbing my face trying to get me to stop typing on computer. I've missed her dearly the past few days. Missed hearing her meowing at me, having her at my side hanging with me and picking her up to give her a huge hug and love. So, I'd like to dedicate my first project 52 to our sweet kitty. This image of her I love because she hardly ever would look into the camera for me. Her favorite thing to do was be as high as she could be above everyone so naturally she's looking down at me.

What a fun session I had last Friday with these two cute boys. I've known them both since the oldest was in Kinder and the youngest was born. I met their Mom when my daughter started Kinder, we were room Moms together and our kids are great friends:) I loved capturing their fun moments. We had great fun!! Thanks Shannon, for all your help and choosing me to photograph your sweet boys!!

Well, our summer vacation officially ended last Wednesday. My girl went back to school and is now in Fourth grade. I can't believe I have a fourth grader! She had a great short week last week and seems to be loving school. So, I thought of this image when I saw what the theme was over at iheartfaces this week. I've always loved my daughter's eyes, they are blue and have this cool dark line around her iris, very striking. And, this image cracks me up. If you haven't been to iheartfaces you should, they have some amazing photography work to see.

I so wish time didn't move so fast. This week, my sweet daughter had been posing for me in different types of light. I was, of course, trying some new things and she's a trooper to still pose for her mom:) When I saw this image, my heart skipped a beat. I have many images of my sweet girl but something about this really struck me. Oh no, it can't be, it's a glimpse into her future. The look she is giving me is so grown up. It selfishly makes me wish I could stop time. It's hard to believe that the next big steps are around the corner. I just want to squeeze her like I did when she was a baby. If I did that now, I'd get an "Oh Mom". But, thank goodness she still loves to be hugged:) This image will definitely be a fav of mine for a very long time.

I love seeing returning clients. It's so wonderful to see how the kids have changed and grown. It's been two and a half years since I saw the "F" family. They welcomed a new baby boy 5 weeks ago and he is scrumptious. I especially wanted to post the images today, St. Patties Day, because he's wrapped in this green blanket and he looks so good in green:) The kids were so sweet to their new baby brother.

Merry Christmas Eve!! Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas with your family and friends. I'm super behind with my blogging but wanted to post a couple from my session reschedule with Sweet Baby G! He did so well, slept for us a lot of the session, even though he was almost four weeks old. We were even able to get his adorable big sister in a couple shots:) His Mom was really hoping for some sleepy baby shots. I was thrilled that he was okay with wearing some of my cute hats. I especially love him in that blue knit hat.
I'll be on vacation through Jan. 3rd. But, will hopefully have time to post a photo or two.

Had the wonderful pleasure of meeting sweet Baby G, who at the time of his session was just over two weeks old. Such a cutie!! Well, during the session he was so interested in his surroundings he decided he wasn't going to sleep, much to his mama's dismay. We tried everything and then we had to unexpectedly end the session:( Upstairs, my son had an unfortunate accident that involved his top two teeth and his play table. He scared himself, his sitter and his mama silly!! But, in the end he was okay! Took til the end of the day for his teeth to stop bleeding but he was a trooper. No images of the crime scene, but here are a few sneak peeks of baby G. Enjoy!!

On Wednesday afternoon, I had a fun session with three adorable boys in Old Town near the train museum. This is the fourth year I've had the pleasure of photographing these three. I've known them all since they were babies. At our very first session the oldest two welcomed a new baby brother. He is so darn cute! He blew his Mama kisses during this session and he is very good at telling his brothers what to do:) They are growing up so fast and I love to see how they change each year.
We had fun climbing on some trains, checking out the turntable and looking at the river. It was a colder afternoon than I expected but they were troopers! Just one for a sneak peek and will post more this weekend:)

Last week, I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph the sweet and adorable kids at Joni's preschool in Roseville. Normally, I don't list names of my clients for privacy purposes but I just have to say, Joni Huffman is the most wonderful and kind-hearted preschool teacher I've ever met. Her calling is to work with little ones and I know that by personal experience because my daughter attended her school five years ago. I was so honored that she invited me to photograph her preschool kids. I had so much fun. The kids, were so sweet and they all had the most gorgeous eyes. It was wonderful meeting all of them and what was really special, I got a big hug from a little girl at the end of the session. Love!! So, here is a sneak peek for Ms. Joni and the parents of these adorable kids. Hope you enjoy:)!!

Last Thursday I had the great pleasure of meeting two sweet and very special twin baby girls. Their Mama went through a lot to have them and they are so perfect! I was in baby love, got to hold and snuggle each of them! It was so neat to see how different their little personalities were. Older sis slept through most of the session and younger sis stayed wide awake just watching my every move! One thing they did agree on, is that they weren't too happy about having their photo taken together:)

~Happy First Day of Fall~ {Sacramento Portrait Photographer}

Isn't this time of year the best? On Sept. 1st my 8yo daughter says, "Mom we need to decorate for fall":). I know it was kind of early but I love that she enjoys doing these things as much as I do. And, as if on cue, the weather last night turned colder and it seemed to be telling us fall is near. This morning there was a slight chill in the air, now the afternoon is warming up beautifully and in the evening it will cool down again. Just makes you feel like some comfort food and snuggling up in the blankets! Soon there will be pumpkin patch visits, trick or treating, thanksgiving dinner with family and friends and then dare we say it, Christmas. Such a magical time of the year. Wishing you a fabulous first day of fall!!

I had the pleasure of meeting this sweet family and their adorable twin boys on Sunday. We were blessed with gorgeous weather and it made for the perfect day for taking photos. I so enjoyed following the boys, A and J, they called the shots during our session:) LOL! It's kind of hard sitting still when your 18 months old! I had the great pleasure of spending Sunday morning with this beautiful baby girl. Her Mom told me she really loved her baby blues. Her eyes are gorgeous! She was a perfect doll. Having fun editing photos from our play date! Isn't she a doll? So many fun spots to take photos in Old Town Sac. I've had many requests about when I'll be starting back to work.
My plan is to officially start back in May. So, with my current family life situation, new baby and all, I'll be scheduling 3-4 sessions per month. Wow, two posts in one day, that's a record for me:) I just love this image of mom and babe, they seem to just glow. Some of you may know and many of you may not know that my family and I are expecting a baby boy this December. We are ecstatic! With this exciting news, comes changes to my work schedule the rest of the year. I'll be accepting one session per week and my last session will be 11/1. So, if you were planning on pictures for the holidays this year, please book as soon as you can. The spots are going fast. Happy Wednesday, Everyone! In September, I'm offering something new! I'll have five mini sessions available for booking on Sunday September 20th at McKinley Park in Sacramento, CA. The mini sessions will run 30 minutes starting from 9:30am to noon. The cost is $40 per session for families up to 5 persons, you'll receive 15-20 images to view in a private online gallery. Sessions are on a first come, first serve basis. Please give me a call or send me an e-mail via my website to book your session soon!!

I had the pleasure of spending a Thursday morning with returning clients I met last year. Thank you for your repeat business, I so appreciate it:) This session they had a special guest from overseas, their sister and her new baby. It was so wonderful to see how the kids have grown since last year. Little C is a doll. She's a little girl now, with beautiful curly hair. Her baby brother, who I had so much fun photographing last year, is a cute blondie. It was so nice to see everyone and to meet the newest member of family. Good Morning! Had to share this image of my girl I took this weekend. I ordered these beautiful asian umbrellas and I couldn't wait to use them. My girl wanted to do the serious look, she is such a poser:) Not like she hasn't had lots of practice! I also wanted to announce that I'll have some upcoming specials posted on my blog and facebook in the next couple weeks. I'll have a contest, specials for a graduating senior or two and I'm thinking about having some mini sessions in Sept. when this crazy heat cools down. I'll also be accepting limited sessions this fall/winter season. My family and I are expecting our second child this Christmas. So, I may be moving a little slower than usual. I'll be accepting one session per week until November 15th. So, if your thinking of a session during the holidays please book early to secure your spot! Please check back on those specials! Saturday was the perfect day for a session at the Capitol, we couldn't have asked for nicer weather. Isn't this family gorgeous? They made my job super easy! Congrats to the H family for winning the photo package I donated to our school auction. Our daughters are so fortunate to have such a wonderful school and I'm so glad that we can both support their education! Your girls should be models, they are so pretty and were naturals at posing. I have to proclaim as I usually do, that I have the best job ever:)! I had the pleasure of spending last Friday with a sweet family who have been blessed with a gorgeous baby boy. Baby "I" is an adorable little angel sent straight from heaven. He was so alert for his photo debut! He didn't want to miss out on anything. We had a great time. He's a lucky little guy with a terrific set of parents who clearly adore him. And, he had a special visitor all the way from the East Coast, his grandmother! Happy Wednesday to All! I'm making a concerted effort to get back in the habit of posting again, we'll see how long it lasts! LOL:) For some reason this week I've been really tired. It's been kind of gray the past two days and today we finally have some sunshine. So, since I've been so sleepy I thought I would post one of my fav images of a beautiful baby boy who is slumbering so adorably. Isn't that smile just so precious. I wonder what he could be dreaming about! He looks so cuddly I wish I could just snuggle up and take a nap with him.

I just love babies! I had the pleasure of taking photos of my friend's baby and he is just a sweetheart. He's two weeks old and he did not want to sleep for us at first. He wanted to stay up and party, didn't want to miss a thing. So amazing for a two week old, normally they are just snoozing:) I was able to use a couple of my new props, this adorable baby cocoon w/matching hat and a hat with bear ears!! So, so cute. Loved how his little toes stuck through the bottom of cocoon. Oh, those baby toes are so darling, Thank you to my friend for sharing her baby for an afternoon, it was so much fun. Hope you enjoy these few and I'll have more for you real soon!

I had the great pleasure of meeting Leah and Dave for an engagement session! Such an exciting time in their lives. I wish them the very best:) They picked a gorgeous location and it was a beautiful night. A little hotter than normal but we were able to cool off with the breeze from their aunt's golf cart. Their Aunt Deb was a sweetheart and so nice to drive us all around. Here are a few from their session, hope this will tide you over until I finish editing. Enjoy!

My Website has a new look and a new address! If you haven't had the chance to check it out please take a look. Link will be posted below. This image I call Red, Red they call me Red. That just popped into my head and I realized it was a quote from one of my daughter's favorite Dr. suess books. The name of book escapes me at the moment, if anyone remembers please feel free to post. Anyway, I just love the contrast of the grays, blacks and that fabulous red. This is a fav from one of my sessions with a most beautiful little girl. She adored that skirt, I hope her Mommy got one for her. I'll have some new images to post soon, so please keep checking back. Well, I have seriously neglected my blogging for a whole month!! February was a busy month with birthdays, bad colds/sickness, basketball, girl scouts(cookies!) and a trip to disneyland with family. Since it's been so long, I felt the need to share a favorite photo of my girl and share some news of things I've been working on. My website is going to have a new look and a new address. It was a beautiful day today. Temp. in the 60's, so warm for this time of year. Thought I would post another one of my gerbera series. I really like this one, because of the cheery red color and the shape. The shape reminds me of the cute pettiskirts that are all the rage by little girls. A good example of nature's beauty! I know, I know, I'm blowing my project 365! Ms. Lyndsie started basketball this month and it's her first time. She really seems to like it and is picking it up quickly. Her very first day was a game, she hadn't even had practice yet. We were so impressed, she dribbled the ball well and she made a basket during the practice before the game. My first attempt at sports photography was at her game this past Saturday. My friend Tressie gave me some pointers on camera settings, etc. Tressie has been photographing her son since he was in first grade he's now 15, so she's had a lot of practice! I was pretty happy I caught this shot. Our girl is rebounding!! According to Lyndsie's dad, basketball is all about the rebounds. He told her they say in the NBA, no rebounds no ring! That doesn't quite apply here but we were pretty proud of her! They all got fruit roll ups at the end! Hope everyone is having a great week. Hard to believe that it's the last week of January. Oh man, I missed a day of posting. There goes my project 365! LOL! I received some wonderful news yesterday. One of my images was picked as a finalist in the Better Photo contest. Better Photo is a wonderful site for photographers at all levels, to meet, share their work, offer encouragement, friendly critiques and develop friendships/connections. It's amazing how photography connects so many people. I feel so lucky to have met so many inspiring photographers. I hope to continue to learn and grow as a photographer with the encouragement of my BP friends. Thank you to the N family. Hope everyone had a wonderful inaugural Tuesday! Meant to post this morning but the day got away from me. Funny how that happens a lot:) This is another from my gerbera series. I thought this little flower looked so sunny! We'll need something cheery, now that it looks like we'll finally be getting some much needed rain. Yikes, it's been a long time since I posted. Every year, I get asked what are my new year resolutions, and my response is sad, I don't have any. Truthfully though, I always have good intentions of having new years resolutions. But when I start to make a list, I realize that it's too overwhelming because the list is too darn long:)! Ha! That brings to mind something neat my sil decided to do. It's called project 365. She will post a photo and a journal entry in her blog for every day in 2009. How cool is that? Lifestyle photos for every day of the year. Which she will then enter into a family album for 2009. I think that's pretty cool. So, she has inspired me. I'm going to do my best to post a photo and journal entry of my favorite photos from last year and this year. These mini gerbera daisies reminded me of spring with their bright and cheery colors. Hope the new year is treating everyone well. For me, it has been hard to get back into the swing of things. It was so nice having my husband and daughter home for many days at a time. We usually only have weekends all together and it never seems enough. So, the quiet in my house has been unsettling. But something wonderful did happen that touched my heart and brightened my days. This week my daughter, Lyndsie, came home from school with an envelope and said "Mom you need to open this with Dad". I had no idea what it was but I said okay. Brett got home after Lyndsie was in bed and we opened it together just as she instructed. Inside is this beautiful belated christmas card she made in art class that said "Mom and Dad, I love you so much, your the best parents ever. Oh my!! That is what I needed!

After having to reschedule once due to rain, I finally had the pleasure of meeting the M family this Sunday. We had gorgeous weather for our session!! Their new 8wk old baby boy is as cute as can be. He was wide awake for the first part of the session but soon fell asleep with a full tummy and a warm cute outfit:) His siblings were so funny and good with him. I was so happy when my friend asked me to photograph their gorgeous family. Thank you all for a very fun session. To start, cutie pie J decided he wasn't going to have his photo taken that day. It was cool, I understood. So, I asked him to please not smile at all while I was around and my goodness there were smiles abound:) He was so good with his sweet baby brother, they were adorable. Oh my goodness, it's been a while since I've blogged. Been really busy and we've been sick with the stomach flu. My little one came down with it on Sunday and then lucky me got it yesterday. We're all finally on the mend:)
I had the pleasure of meeting three beautiful girls who are great friends. They agreed to have their session at a cool location my previous client chose for her session. I'm so glad they did. I love the place with all it's cool textures and colors. It's soon to be demolished and has sentimental value for many. They were troopers because it was freezing outside at only 46 degrees. We pushed the session back by an hour and a half in hopes it would warm up, did not happen. But that didn't hinder our session. It was so much fun, despite the cold! I spent a fun morning with the H family! Such a beautiful place, made even more special by the fact that Mom and Dad were married in this same location. We had gorgeous weather! What a fine day!! Thank you for a fun session. Young Mr. A kept me on my toes, literally! I got a workout chasing him up flights of stairs, playing hide and seek in hopes of capturing that perfect shot! My session with the T family was so much fun! So comical, I can just envision how festive and humorous their family parties must be! I've never laughed so much at a session, especially with grown ups:) The siblings were either cracking each other up, squishing one another or bickering back and forth. Mom T wanted a photo with her loved ones and she picked a beautiful location. The golden reflection of the autumn colors contrasted perfectly with their dark clothing. What a gorgeous family! What a wonderful time I had with the R family. You may all recognize the adorable little girl whom I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing a few weeks ago. Someone was missing from that session, her big brother! I was amazed at his striking resemblance to a "younger" Tiger Woods! What a million dollar smile:) So, we scheduled a second session for the siblings to capture an image for their holiday cards and to take photos of their gorgeous family! So glad everything worked out this time:) It was a beautiful day, definitely not typical for November. We had a great time enjoying the park, the ducks, the geese and the squirrels! We had a couple "stalker" squirrels, one I had to edit out! It was such a nice day I didn't want to leave the park! Thank you R family! Hope you enjoy your sneak peek!

Well, this is a record for me, two posts in one night:) I'm editing like a mad woman and thank all of my families for being so patient!! Isn't this family gorgeous?! Last May, they won the bid for my CH photography package I donated to my daughter's school auction. What a perfect afternoon, it was sunny and warm. We had a great time at the arboretum. The two little ones were a hoot! Talk about personality:) We were so lucky to have such great weather. And, I found some fall color, this is the only request Mom had. She really wanted fall color. It's been so warm that many of the leaves haven't changed yet and it's mid November. I hope this works! Have a great week and thanks for looking!

What a fun morning I had with the R family! The location was at their parents home and what a gorgeous backyard setting they had. We had terrific weather, the sun was shining and the temp was perfect. Little Mr. N did so well. We explored his grandparents backyard to find the many treasures they have here and there. He climbed into a tree house and had big smiles for his mom, it was so nice to have her assistance. Thank you so much, R family!

What a fun session on a perfect fall day. We encountered a couple light rain showers but we were able to wait it out under a tree. The N family were troopers braving the sprinkles, Miss L. didn't mind the rain one bit. She was the perfect little model. Enjoy! Have a great weekend everyone!

Such a fun session with these adorable brothers. Our goal was to get a photo of these cuties for their Christmas card and there will be many good choices! Plus, get some shots of Baby W, since he's turning a year old. He was just a babe all swaddled up last year in his first Christmas photo with his brothers:) He's grown so much. He wasn't too happy when we first started the session. I couldn't resist the sad picture with all those tears! Breaks your heart! We used cheerios and strawberry candy canes as bribery:) It was Baby W's first taste of a candy cane and his expressions were so cute. His mom and I had a good chuckle!

Sneak Peek for C family

The C family were fun to work with. They picked some terrific locations, very pretty fall colors. We got very lucky with no rain that day, just some clouds to diffuse the sun. Very different from the day before when it didn't seem like the rain would ever stop. Both boys were adorably cute, full of energy and had great personalities! They had some good jokes and were cracking me up:)

January 2009 Price Changes

I can't believe it's November 1st and I've been in business for almost a year. This has been such a great first year in business thanks to all my wonderful clients!! Without you, CH Photography would not continue to grow. I appreciate each and every one of you and thank you from the bottom of my heart. Effective January 2009 my session fees will be changing slightly and my print prices will be full price. Please check my website for specific details. Here's a sneak peek from a great session I had with Little Miss K last week! What a sweet angel! Could she be any cuter? She's gorgeous and was such a perfect model. That smile of hers was so contagious:) Anything I asked her to do, she was game and did it with a smile. Can you believe she's only three?! What a fun session we had.
